short film inspiration

In how 'bout this weather is taking about a sibling rivalry that get out of hand and attack other people. The shots were good at conveying the feeling of each character. The dialogue that is used in between the two brothers and the hate that they feel for each other and how they dread to see each other and is shown through the The shots would cut towards the emotions of the characters with the way that others react to them.
The full shots at the family is talking shows the two sides clashing as they talk about their job. The mis en scene of the light is shown down to support the two separate sides.
The cuts were fast and short to emphasis the split between the two brothers as they attack each other and destroy and hurt each others family. The acting was very convincing in the sense that the two brothers were really brothers and had built up frustration and then they are actually doing anything that they can to attack each other. The clothing was very connected to the kind of status that each brother lived. While one is dressed elegantly as he is rich when the other is dressed more like a middle class man. The story is very straight forward and comedic like because it is about an sibling rivalry that get out of hand and eventually make both brother alone as they are still fighting. I like it because it shows two brothers who are in different classes instead of helping each other they are trying to destroy each other and insut each other as their rivalry gets out of hand.
It will be a combination between comedy and sci-fi. I will blend the two together to create an idea that will bring out a laugh from audience.
A possible log line
In a future there is a family gathering and a sibling rivalry gets out of hand and the brothers end up fighting with each other.
brother getting together
brother rivalry starts.
gets into a bloody fight
gets back together.

reaserch script

THe philosophy of sciences fiction is that fantasy and mystical realism taking place in a futuristic world. one of it founders were Georage Melies through his movie travel to the moon. Also another founder that pushed Sciences fiction even futher was the director George Lucas with his famous movie Star wars. ALso some of the founders actors Buck Roger and Flash Gorden. ANother film that came before star wars was 20,000 leagues under the sea by Jules Vernes. they influenced the genera with the ideas of things that could not be done and this things made the genera more and more interesting because it was life that we can not see everyday.
THe idea I want to pursue is the way western influence on the kind of cutural background of the director and how this influence shaped the kind of science fiction movie they want to make. For example the movie of district nine is shaped my the director growing up in South Africa during the time of apartheid and how the story shows the combination between the fight of aliens and humans as the struggle between balck and white. Like in Avatar it is talking about the culture of americans and our past with the struggle of Idians against the whites as they moved west. ANother movie is the host and it shows the western influence of the Americans on the East. It is about a best htat attacks and kills everything in it path and abducts a person which makes the family start to fight back to save the person. Through this it shows western influence of nuclear substance and how the western influence had spread and how it influence the people.

Avatar blog post
What challenges did James Cameron have in realizing his vision?
James CAmeron faced the challenge of the genre that he was trying to go for because he wanted it to be more of a fantasy, action, adventure not a sci-fi movie. ALso the tech did not become advance enough until now so that he can actually make use of it in his movie.
What was the process used in creating Pandora?
THe processed that they used to create Pandora was that they took what we already had on this earth and used the CG to create a even more elaberate world like the floating mountain and the extension of forest that is longer than the amazon.
How has performance caputure changed the filmmaking process?
THe performance was actually physical movement that they putt little dots on the face of the actors and got them into suits that allow motion capture then put them in a room with cameras all over including a mic connected to the helmet and then have them physically act out all the motions made the movie. So everything that the avatar did then actors themselves had to do in the vault. ALso because of the motion capture the Cg characters like the avatar can use the facial expressions of the actor without having to actually do on a computer later.
THe cost for avatar was very experncive because the techwas not create so it cost 400 million dollars to make. 250 million was used on the making of the actual movie and then the next 150 million was used on just the advertising of the movie avatar. THe movie is expected to make about 1.26 billion dollars THe problems about making the most expensive movie is not trying to make a movie that is going to be really bad and fall and bomb which will not make the money that they should have to loose money to instead of make money. ALso another problem that they have to deal with profit is piracy which takes the movie without paying which will also cut into their profits. THe mass budget that was spent on this film I feel does not really help portray the message that the film maker was trying to make instead it was just distracting the people from the actual message.
I feel that the plot is recycled but the way that they use it is different because it is showing ideas that allow us to understand and feel what it is that the reader is trying to say. I disagree with the critics that the movie is aniti-war and is racial at all but use these implications to futher certain archtypes that need these aspects to be truely able to consolidate the idea of the archetype and how the achtype plays out in our society.

Film critique
A) My connection
In my group I had a lot of contributions. In the beginning of the pre-production Matt and I were editing his treatment and trying to come up with a good plot about what was going on and how we should shoot the movie. Matt and I decided what will be the best shot to convey the emotion in the story and the best way to tell what is happening. Also I create the prop and production schedule.

B) Reflection of movie as a whole
The movie as a whole was really good. The casting for the movie was very good because all the actors knew what they were doing and how they were suppose to act for that specific scene. The actors were able to play their role in a believable fashion and people knew what was going on. I feel that the actors were able to give a distinct feeling to the characters.

Also the props were used very well.

Also the angles of where the lights are situated were really well used to because it created fast fall off on the person and it showed a very cinematic look at the shots. Also the lights help make a person seem important while in other lights made the person seem less important. The title and credits were good because it gave acknowledgement to all of the people who contributed to the movie. The title was also very legible and was able to tell who was in the movie and who did what part. The title was not very dark and ominous however but very plain and simple. The title and credits does not interfere with or give anything away that was very important. Also the title and credits were on the screen long enough for the people to see each person who contributed to the movie. The framing of the shots were also very good because it showed a lot of the emotion in the shots and showed the people the shots that helped move the story as it unfolded because the shots are showing what is expressed in the movie and in the exact shot. A lot of the camera shots do not draw attention to themselves but they make a really good shot for the movie and move the movie along with the emotion of the shots. The camera were at a constant of different angles that make the movie seem more dark and allowed the emotion to seep into the characters at the same time allowing the audience to understand what was going on. Also a lot of the shots were smooth and they were not bad shots at all and they were pretty good shots that does not draw attention away from any part of the movie. The sound was used very well ad it showed up really well to. Because we can here what is going on in the story and how the actors feel through the story by what they say. The sound was much distorted in some shots.

script analysis
1. How does the film start at a dramatic moment in the middle of the drama? THe film starts at a very dramatic and mysterious part after the Main character Matt comes back from the bathroom and find his partner died and the case gone misiing.
2. What terrific scene will open, and what memorable scene will end the film? In the beginning of the flim it is showing a mysterious converstation over a will and in the end it shows what happen and the killing of the Main character.
3. What’s my character’s attitude and position in the events? In the case of blood the attitude of the main character is one of wonderment and mysterious becasue the main character is like a private eye who is tying to fin out what is going on and through this he unravels a plot that his brother set up for him that evetually leads to his death.
4. How do I introduce my character? If my character isn’t central to the action, what do they witness that is?
In our treatment the character is in the central to the action because the character starts off talking about a will that his father left behind with the business partner and through the conversation we are eluded to another main character who is Matt's brother. Through the conversation we can see that the brother is a kind of person who will do anoything to get what he wants like.
5. How can I help the audience discover what is happening, rather than just telling them everything?
Through some of our dialouge and body actions the characters are slowly revealing the plot that the brother had set up of rhte main character which draws the main character deeper and deeper into the brothers trap which will eventually kill him off.
6. How can I reduce things to a minimum, but still have an impact?
a way that we can cut down the script is by having Matt see open window instead of just finding a door ajar then seeing the open window to eventually seeing his dead partner on the gound below. Other then the window sequence I can not see how we can cut down the script anymore then we already have becasue a lot of the shots are shots that we need to estabilsh some of the things that are going on in the movie.
